Temperament: Small will school, large can be semi aggressive
Diet & Nutrition: Carnivore; will eat a broad range of foods from flakes, small pellets, frozen, and live worms along with brine shrimp, but not always on the first attempt. DO NOT feed them tubifex worms. Tubifex carries too many pathogens and the risk of introducing disease to your Discus is too great a risk.
Cobalt Blue Discus Breeding
Breeding & Spawning: Will lay their eggs on broad leaved plants like Amazon Swords or almost any vertical flat surface that is to their liking. Fry are best kept with the parents as they will eat the slime that the parents secrete.
The Cobalt Blue Discus is a must have for all discus aquariums. This fishh has a light blue color with a detailed pattern. Some cobalt blue discus fish have black bars coming down their bodies which make them even more unique. The cobalt blue discus fish is definitely a schooling fish so it is highly recommended that you keep them in groups of at least 6 discus or more. Discus fish feel safe in large groups.
The unique characteristic of cobalt blue discus fish is that they show their colors at an early age unlike a lot of other strains of discus fish. Usually at around 3 months of age the cobalt blue discus fish will already be its true color. As the fish matures the colors will intensify.
The cobalt blue discus fish requires a variety of high protein foods. Their diet consists of beef heart flakes, discus flakes, blood worms, black worms and brine shrimp.
Gender: Venting is the best way to sex Discus.
