Discus Fish Price

Discus fish price can be very confusing especially for someone new to the hobby.

When you are shopping for discus fish you have two options:

1. Your Local Pet Store – At your local pet store it is not too common to find discus fish for sale. The reason being is that discus fish are too expensive therefore most pet stores do not want to carry them. However, from time to time you may come across a local per store that does have a few discus fish for sale. Typically, the discus fish price at pet stores will be fairly high. You can expect to pay over $40 for a small discus fish. Then to top it off most of the discus fish at pet stores are usually not in the best health.

2. Online – Today the best variety of discus fish can be found online. There are several online discus sellers, however, not all of them are reputable. The discus fish price online varies from seller to seller. You can find discus fish online as cheap as $10 to as high as $600 each!

So you are probably really confused now about the discus fish price online. Let me explain. As the golden rule of thumb states “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”. The same rule applies to discus fish. If you see discus fish really cheap let us say $10-$15- just run the other way! You cannot find a good quality discus fish for under $15 guaranteed! You will just be buying yourself headaches and disappointment while flushing your money down the toilet. So stay away from any discus fish selling for $15 or less. Trust me, you will thank me later!

Another thing to watch out for is discus fish sellers who give free discus fish with a certain order quantity. You need to ask yourself why would they be giving away good quality expensive fish? The truth is, they don’t! You won’t get good-quality fish for free. You will probably end up with stunted unhealthy fish that will look like an eye-sore in your tank. Just hold your money and keep looking around!

Stay away from discus sellers offering free shipping. Free shipping does not exist. UPS, FedEx, and the Postal Service will not ship anything for free. If a discus seller is offering free shipping they are probably selling low-quality unhealthy discus or they are just inflating the price of each fish trying to trick you into thinking that shipping is free but it’s not! Why would you want to do business with someone that is trying to deceive you? Again, turn around and run away!

So if you followed my advice thus far you have narrowed down your discus shopping to sellers whose discus fish price is in the $20 to $150 price range. Where do you go from here? Well, check each of the remaining discus fish sellers. What other fish are they selling? The highest quality discus fish will come from discus sellers that specialize in discus and discus tank mates. Therefore, if you come across a seller that sells discus fish, saltwater fish, freshwater fish, koi and cichlids, chances are that their discus are probably not the best quality. So if you are serious about quality discus fish, only consider sellers that specialize in discus fish, discus fish tank mates and discus supplies. Now you have very few sellers to choose from and it just comes down to available stock and price.

Discus fish price can be quite confusing but I’m hoping that after reading this article the process should be much easier and enjoyable for you. As always you can contact us with any questions.
